Music Ministry
Interested in being a part of the music ministry at Holy Redeemer? We are continually looking for singers and instrumentalists (youth and adults) with a passion for making joyful music and sharing it with those around them. If any of the aspects of this ministry catch your attention or you would simply like some more information, please email Josh Riedford at [email protected]. Thank you so much!
Adult Choir
The Adult Choir is made up of individuals high school and older who can commit to singing on a fairly regular basis. No audition is required, and while it is certainly beneficial to be able to read music, it is not an absolute necessity. Presently, the Adult Choir sings every 1st and 4th Sunday and on special liturgical occasions and holidays (Easter, Christmas, All Saints Day, etc). Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings at 6:30pm (on weeks that the choir is singing the following Sunday). Singing repertoire that spans from traditional hymns to more contemporary tunes, the Adult Choir is great for anyone looking to sing often and who is up for an occasional challenge.
Contemporary Choir
The Contemporary Choir is for anyone high school and older who enjoys the style and spirit of the modern Christian music scene, or putting a fresh spin on well-known tunes. In addition to keyboard accompaniment, the Contemporary Choir lends itself to other added instrumentation, including guitars, percussion, violin, and more. This choir sings the 3rd Sunday of each month and has one rehearsal the week prior on Thursday at 6:30pm. Anyone can join both the Adult Choir and Contemporary Choir concurrently.
Teen Choir
A relatively new addition to Holy Redeemer's music ministry is the Teen Choir. Open to middle school and high school students (college students also welcome), this small ensemble sings for Sunday Masses sporadically throughout the year. A powerhouse of youthful energy, this group sings mostly contemporary repertoire, backed by drum set and keyboard, strings and sometimes guitar. Rehearsals vary depending on availability of group.
Youth Choir
Open to anyone in 3nd grade up through high school, this choir is made of students in both the public and parochial school systems who come together with the common purpose of making joyous music. Trying to foster a fun yet hard working atmosphere, the Youth Choir has rehearsals after the 10:30am Sunday Mass. The choir then sings on the 2nd Sunday of every month. All are welcome, even if you are unable to attend all the rehearsals!
Cantors
Maybe singing with a full group or attending regular rehearsals isn't for you? If you like being in front of people and you are very passionate about singing, the Music Ministry can always use more people who would volunteers as cantors. Usually it's a commitment of one or two Masses per month, at whichever Mass you are accustomed to attending.
