Scout Mass Planning (February 4th, 2018 at 9:00am Mass)
Mass Planning Hello Everybody. I'm so happy we are all able to come together and plan this Most Holy Event! Please follow the directions below to help plan this years Scout Mass.
Look at the Mass Plans for Feb. 4th Below. Fr. Jason and I are hoping every scout troop and participate in some way during the Mass.
Choose a place(s) where your troop can help (ie. greeters, ushers, readers, etc). Then ask your scouts to commit.
Submit the form below (next to the Mass plan) with your scout and his/her placement in the Mass. I WILL UPDATE THE MASS PLANS BELOW AS SOON AS I RECEIVE A SUBMISSION.
For those volunteering (ie: reader, server...), please arrive early before Mass begins (8:30am) and check in with Doug Rasler or Fr. Jason.
Awards and/or Acknowledgements can be given at Mass if planned in advance with Fr. Jason. This can be presented to spoken about after Communion before the final blessing. If you have awards/acknowledgements, please email Fr. Jason at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please have all Scouts in uniform.
You are encouraged to bring your Scout Flag (and stand) to the Mass and process in/out with it.
*(Eucharistic Ministers will be chosen in advance by Doug from the Parish.)
The Readings for the Scout Mass on Feb. 5th, 2017 FIRST READING: JB 7:1-4, 6-7 Job spoke, saying: Is not man's life on earth a drudgery? Are not his days those of hirelings? He is a slave who longs for the shade, a hireling who waits for his wages. So I have been assigned months of misery, and troubled nights have been allotted to me. If in bed I say, "When shall I arise?" then the night drags on; I am filled with restlessness until the dawn. My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle; they come to an end without hope. Remember that my life is like the wind; I shall not see happiness again.
SECOND READING 1 COR 9:16-19, 22-23 Brothers and sisters: If I preach the gospel, this is no reason for me to boast, for an obligation has been imposed on me, and woe to me if I do not preach it! If I do so willingly, I have a recompense, but if unwillingly, then I have been entrusted with a stewardship. What then is my recompense? That, when I preach, I offer the gospel free of charge so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel.
Although I am free in regard to all, I have made myself a slave to all so as to win over as many as possible. To the weak I became weak, to win over the weak. I have become all things to all, to save at least some. All this I do for the sake of the gospel, so that I too may have a share in it.
