Novena to St. Joseph
A novena is an ancient form of devotion consisting of nine consecutive days of prayer in preparation for a feast day and/or for a particular intention.  The word comes from the Latin word "novem" meaning nine.  The novena in honor of the Holy Spirit is the oldest of all novenas.  It was first made at the direction of Our Lord Himself when He sent His apostles back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost nine days later.

May 1 is the feast day of St. Joseph the Worker.  Beginning a novena to St. Joseph on April 23 will allow you to end on that feast.  Below are several different versions of novenas to St. Joseph.  The last two use a version of the Memorare to St. Joseph that is slightly different than the one given on the prayer cards in preparation for the Consecration to St. Joseph.  If you became familiar with that version, it is completely acceptable to use it.  No one version of the novena is better than another, so feel free to look at each of them and choose the one that you feel might be most spiritually fruitful to you.
Memorare to St. Joseph
Remember, O most chaste spouse of the Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who implored your help and sought your intercession were left unassisted. Full of confidence in your power I fly unto you and beg your protection. Despise not O Guardian of the Redeemer my humble supplication, but in your bounty, hear and answer me. Amen.
