COVID-19 (Coronavirus) May 7, 2020 Update
May 7, 2020 Update
Good afternoon. In case you don't subscribe to the Message or haven't seen it yet in the news, Bishop Siegel has announced that beginning May 18, parishes across the diocese may begin celebrating weekday public Masses in parish churches, with Sunday Masses resuming May 23-24. This is great news for us indeed to be able to celebrate the Eucharist as a community. Of course this excitement is measured with the indicated precautions that are necessary to keep us safe and knowing that not all of our brothers and sisters will be able to gather together with us. Please click here to read the article in the Message.
Our parish staff is continuing to discuss the hows and whens of this news. Please do be patient with us as we prayerfully determine what will be best for us here at Holy Redeemer. To help us with some of our decisions, we will be sending out a short survey tomorrow. We ask that you please do take a moment to reply. After we have had time to discuss the feedback and make determinations, we will communicate our plan this coming week.
Let us continue our prayers for all affected by COVID-19: for our brothers and sisters who are sick, their loved ones, healthcare providers, public health officials, all community leaders and for one another. Let us continue to join Pope Francis in prayer through Mary:
O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.
At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain,
with steadfast faith.
You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need.
We are certain that you will provide, so that,
as you did atCana of Galilee,
joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform ourselves to the Father’s will
and to do what Jesus tells us:
He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us,
through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger,
O glorious and blessed Virgin.
Amen
God Bless,
Fr. Jason Gries
