May 1, 2020 Update
Good afternoon. I hope that you are doing well.
Just this morning, pastors of parishes in the Diocese of Evansville received an email with a letter from Bishop Siegel. Although it might not have the exact words we'd like to hear, it does give us an update to know where we are headed & how we might get there. Please do pray for the group that is tasked with creating the way forward. Ultimately, God is the architect, we just have to be open to hear His voice.
As a reminder, today Bishop Siegel will be re-consecrating the Diocese to the Blessed Virgin Mary at 2 pm as Archbishop Gomez re-consecrates the United States to her as well. We didn't have this information to share in Wednesday's email. Please join Bishop Siegel by clicking here.
Also, in case you missed it in the e-newsletter, the Vatican has published a free downloadable book of prayers and homilies of Pope Francis responding to the trial and suffering of the pandemic. The book also contains suggestions for those unable to receive the sacraments because of the current restrictions. Click here for the book entitled Strong in the Face of Tribulation.
Please do let us continue our prayers for our brothers and sisters who are sick, their loved ones, healthcare providers, public health officials, all community leaders and for one another. Let us continue to join Pope Francis in prayer through Mary: O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.
At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain,
with steadfast faith.
You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need.
We are certain that you will provide, so that,
as you did at Cana of Galilee,
joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform ourselves to the Father’s will
and to do what Jesus tells us:
He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us,
through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger,
O glorious and blessed Virgin.
Amen
God Bless,
Fr. Jason Gries
