From Becky Dossett (Parish Secretary)
My fellow parishioners:
Father Jason has asked the staff to submit an article each week in his absence. I was asked what Holy Redeemer means to me. Holy Redeemer means a place I can feel the Lord’s presence, where I can worship Him, praise Him, and talk to Him freely. Holy Redeemer also means family. When my family transferred here from St. Joseph In The City, we were made to feel so welcome. Our daughters Laura and Jenni went through the Religious Education program. In 2013, we were told I needed a kidney transplant so I went on the universal transplant list and we started the search for a living donor. I had several “angels” to call and see if they could be a donor. I had 2 special “angels” that went through the testing but found out they weren’t viable donors. I was on the list for 2 years. I received so many prayers during that time to find a donor and those prayers were answered in September of 2014 when Hannah and I went to Indianapolis for our transplant. Mrs. Webster had the children say the Hail Mary for me in their morning prayers and I believe God hears children’s prayers first. I was on many prayer lists and received private prayers, that when I was being wheeled into surgery, I felt the peace of the Lord around me. Hannah and I are both doing well. She is busy raising a 6 & a 4 year old and loves to run in half marathons. When I see the parishioners rallying together to help at the Fish Fry’s, the Summer Event, giving to the less fortunate, or anytime help is needed I feel a sense of pride in my Parish. I was fortunate enough to get hired as the Parish Secretary and through that job I have gotten to know more of our wonderful parishioners. From registering new parishioners, scheduling baptisms, giving high fives in the halls to our great school kids, and preparing the bulletin each week, I think I have THE best job ever!!!!!! This is what Holy Redeemer means to me, “family”.
God’s love & mine
