April 10, 2020 Update
Good morning. I hope that this email finds you healthy & safe.
Today we enter into the glorious mystery of Good Friday. One might ask why we call it “Good” when it is the cruel & torturous death of Christ that we celebrate today. It is “Good” because by Christ’s selfless sacrifice He pays the debt owed due to Original Sin. By the sin of Adam and Eve, there was a debt that we could never repay but Jesus becomes the price for that debt. He opens to us the gift of salvation by the free gift of His life for us. This was the plan of our loving Father who did not desire us to be separated from Him forever. Today we really celebrate the incredible love of God for us as God Himself, Jesus, suffers His brutal passion and death so that we might be able to be with Him forever in Heaven. This makes it not only “Good” but great, marvelous, incredible and wonderful. Let us today take time to realize the marvelous, incredible and wonderful gift God has given us this Good Friday as we walk that journey with Jesus in his passion and death
Today is a day of fasting and abstinence from meat. In these we recognize the sacrifice that Christ made for us. Click here for the norms of fasting & abstinence.
