PARISH NURSE MINISTRY

Office Hours are Monday and Thursday 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Parish Nurse services include, but are not limited to: health education, individual consultation, and assistance with physical screenings, ie blood pressure, cholesterol, etc., assistance wit insurance paper work and CPR training.

The Parish Nurse also oversees the following health ministries:

  • Hospital Visitation Teams visit parishioners in hospitals and provide prayers, concern and Communion. Be sure to tell the hospital that you are a member of Holy Redeemer Church.
  • Shut-in Ministry provides shut-ins with prayer and Communion. Please call the Parish Office if you would like a visit.
  • Nursing Home Ministry provides prayer services, communion services, and Mass for those in the three Homes in our area.
  • Health Council meets to discuss the various services offered through the Parish Nurse Ministry.
  • Nurse Advocate Program: There are several nurses in the parish that are available to make home visits to assist with the following activities:
  • Angel Food Ministries: Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States.
  • Medications: name, time side effects, dosages.
  • Blood Pressure checks for people with high blood pressure.
  • For diabetics: blood gucose monitoring, medicines, skin care, particularly feet.
  • Respiratory checks including listening to lung sourncs, checking for leg swelling.
  • Answering questions and concerns of persons being visited, in general, acting as an advocate.
  • They will also offer prayer, Holy Communion and emotional support as needed.
  • They will not do baths, injections, or any other activities that a traditional home health nurse would do.
