Letter from our Youth Minister:
Hi everybody, this is your youth minister, Brandi!
Did you know that Holy Redeemer has been bringing Youth Ministry to Holy Redeemer and surrounding parishes for over 16 years? What a wonderful gift you have given to our teens! I am truly excited to say that I have seen the fruits of our labors in Youth Ministry. Some of our teens have gone on in their lives and continued to live out their faith in so many ways…Unfortunately, in different towns and different states, but all for the greater good of the Catholic Church. Many have gone on to become teachers in our Catholic Schools, Youth Directors, Social Workers, Charity Workers, Rel. Ed Teachers, and much more. We have had at least five from Holy Redeemer Youth Ministry who went on to discern the life as a nun or priest. The BEST news is that all of them (hundreds, and hundreds) went on to live and spread the Word of God as mothers, fathers, sisters, friends, co-workers, brothers, daughters, sons, husbands, wives, and more… They will carry the experiences of God from Holy Redeemer Youth Ministry for the rest of their lives. So I just wanted to say to you, THANK YOU, HOLY REDEEMER, FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN ALL Of THEIR LIVES.
Dear Parents of High School Teens:
Can you believe your babies are teenagers already? Me either. I just wanted to write a few words to you and try to explain Youth Ministry at Holy Redeemer in a nutshell. First, I want you to know… I’m always on your side. Teens are Teens, and they can be difficult sometimes. But parents, I want you to know that our goal at Holy Redeemer is always help them through their confusing and sometimes rebellious teenage years and point them to God and family, while at the same time nurturing their independence that allows them to embrace the Catholic Faith for themselves. There are so many ways we do this at Holy Redeemer. Sometimes Youth Ministry is only reduced to “youth group” but I hope to show you that we are much more. Let me try to explain:
H.R.Y.G. Sundays ( Holy Redeemer Youth Group)
We meet almost every Sunday from August – May, 6-9pm in the Youth Room (all parishes are welcome).
HRYG Sundays is where we foster relationships between participants and the youth ministers. Building relationships with the teens is very important to evangelizing to them. Even Christ Himself first befriended the disciples before they came to believe in Him. Sundays are where we share the Catholic Faith with them, pray with them, witness our faith story to them, and allow them to ask the hard questions about what they believe. Unfortunately it cannot happen in only 3 hours on a Sunday. Therefore, I would like to give you some tips:
If HRYG Sundays’ don’t work for your teen….
THERE’S MORE ways to experience their Faith.
